The Creek Tribe

hp h The Creek was its own independent, and individual tribe. They lived in what is today Alabama and Georgia. The Creek tribe like a few other tribe's were surrounded by the two bodies of waters that are today the Golf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean.
hello Between 1570 A.D and 1670 there was little contact being made between the Creek and the Europeans. When the Europeans and/or other tribes were trading and building land markers, the Creek were left out of it. The reason why they were left out of it was because the Europeans were mostly the main ones who were trading with the United States so since they had a bad way of getting in contact with the Europeans they were mostly left out of everything the Europeans did for a hundred years. There are two very high likely possibilities on why it is said that the Creek and European had little or NONE trading business, one is that `` there record of relation was lost`` and the second one is that ``probably never had any dealings with the Creeks at all. Even though the Creek had bad trading seasons with the Europeans, the Creek mainly and usually traded with the ancient people of South Carolina. There is either an unknown tribe name for the ancient people who lived in South Carolina or there is a possibility that no tribe lived in South Carolina; that they were just the early Americans living there. Even though the Europeans were unsocial with the Creeks, the Creeks often communicated with the: ''Yuchi'', ''Miccosukee'', ''Alabama'' and the ''Coushatta'' tribes. These four tribes communicated using the language called ''Mobilian Jargon''.
hello The Creeks were originally located in some parts of Georgia, Alabama, Florida and North Carolina. Most Creeks were forced to move to Oklahoma in the 1800s. The Creek tribe still exist today. There are a little less than 20,000 Creeks who live in Oklahoma today and some Creeks are scattered throughout Georgia, Alabama, Florida, and North Carolina and some are located in where the Seminole tribe use to be. There are two Creek tribes today. The first Creek tribe is: The Poarch tribe - located in Alabama; they live on Reservations. The second Creek tribe is: The Oklahoma Creeks - live in Oklahoma they do not live on reservations they live on what is known as ‘‘trust land’’. While present day Creeks are American citizens, they have there own government, congress, laws etc., but since the Creeks are American citizens they all have to follow ALL the American laws. In the modern days each Creek village was led by a ''miko'' which was selcted by a ''tribual council'' and in also in the modern days all of these ''miko'' were men. Now ''Creek counilmemebers'' and the ''Creek princpal cheif'', choose and are the ones who become the ''miko'' and this can be either male, or female, in nowadays gender does not matter to them.
hello Men who were members of the Creek tribe were: hunters and sometimes went to war to keep their family safe, during the war. Women in the Creek tribe were the ones who: cooked, took care of the children, and farmed all year long. The Women would farm by harvesting crops of corn, beans, and squaws. Men, and Women both took part in ''artwork'', ''storytelling'', ''music'' {or entertainment} and ''storytelling''. The Creek's worked on many art projects such as: baskets, woodcarvings, and glazed pottery. When the Creeks had to move to Oklahoma they could not take all of there art materials, so in Oklahoma they focused on creating ''bead work''. The ancient Creek's lived in villages, and they also lived in signal family houses. The Creek houses were made by plaster, {tape} and ''rivercane walls with thatched roofs.'' Today the Creeks live in regular houses, and apartments.
hello For transportation the Creeks used ''Paddle Canals''. The Creek then made long canoes from hallowed out logs. Now today the Creek people use cars, and ''non-native people use canoes''. The Creek hunters used bows and arrows. The fisherman used nets, fishing spears, or hooks made of bones. In war Creek men used bows ''or fought with tomahawks and war clubs. Warriors would hide and defend themselves by using shields. The Creek tribe went into war many times with the Cherokee tribe and with the Choctaw tribes. Another hardship that came the Creeks way was the way they were being treated by the United States Government. When Andrew Jackson came into term the first thing he did was kick the Native Americans out and sell the land that they settled in, so in other words the U.S. Government acted rather unfairly to all the Native Americans.
hello To finish off my Essay, I think that the Creek didn't have that much hardship thrown at them because they still got to live in the United States of America.
